Built on people first
Jerry’s core belief was simple: take care of people, and lasting success follows. That people-first culture laid the groundwork for every milestone that came after.
From one dealership and one big idea to a multi-state automotive group, this is the story of a company built around serving customers, investing in employees, and making friends to last a lifetime.
More than a growth story, this is a legacy of relationships, leadership, and a people-first approach that continues to shape every Jerry Seiner dealership today.
What started in Utah now reaches customers in four states, with each dealership carrying forward the same commitment to long-term relationships, trusted service, and community involvement.
The history of Jerry Seiner Dealerships begins with founder Jerry Seiner and his belief that the best automotive businesses take care of both customers and employees. His motto, "Making Friends to Last a Lifetime," became more than a slogan. It became the standard for how the business would grow.
Born near Detroit in 1941, Jerry grew up immersed in the automotive world. He started his business career in advertising with the Detroit News and the Wall Street Journal before pursuing his dream more directly through dealership ownership.
In 1975, he purchased a Chevrolet dealership in Cadillac, Michigan. Then in 1980, Chevrolet offered an opportunity in Salt Lake City, where Jerry planted the roots of what would become the Seiner story known today.
Jerry’s core belief was simple: take care of people, and lasting success follows. That people-first culture laid the groundwork for every milestone that came after.
Over the decades, the Seiner group expanded beyond one Chevrolet store into multiple brands, markets, and communities while staying anchored in service, trust, and long-term relationships.
Jerry earned recognition across the industry, but his greatest impact came through mentoring employees, developing leaders, and building a company where people could create meaningful careers.
In 2012, Chris Hemmersmeier, Jerry’s son-in-law, acquired majority ownership in the dealerships. Chris began his Seiner journey in 1991 and developed his own vision for delivering an exceptional automotive experience.
Under his leadership, the company continued to expand with new dealerships in Arizona, Nevada and California while staying rooted in customer service, employee growth, and community commitment.
